If a player goes on season long IR in the NFL, you may place him on IR on your team. He will not take up a roster spot or count against your salary.
If the player is on IR designated to return, the same rules apply, but you have to take on his roster spot and salary the week he is taken off IR.
If a player is cut from his NFL team, you can cut him from your team with no penalty.
If a player officially hits free agency (where other teams can actually sign him), you can cut him from your team with no penalty.
If a player retires you may cut him from your team without penalty.
Salary Cap and Cap Hits
Salary cap rises every year by $25 starting at $150 in 2019.
Cap hits = 1/3 of the salary rounded down for the length of the contract.

example: if you drop Drew Bress who has a salary of $20 signed for 2 years your cap hits will be 20/3 = 6.667. Rounded down is 6 for 2 years. So $6 hit the year you drop him and $6 hit the year after.

Your salary cap number must stay at or under the league salary cap (your salary cap number = salary + cap hits).
Defensive Players and Kickers with a salary of $1 have no cap hit.
Draft
Draft is 10 rounds
Draft prices go up every year based on Salary Cap - Click Here to see what they are (you can adjust the cap and see what it will be in the future).
You must save $25 of your salary on draft day (for free agents and trading purposes--we had a few years where it sucked because no one had any salary left after the draft).
You can skip draft picks.
Drafted players must be signed for 1, 2 or 3 years.
Restricted Free Agents (RFAs)
When a player's contract is up they become a RFA (In 2019 if you have 1 year left on the contract, at draft day in 2020 that player is a RFA).
You have 2 RFA spots--you can select 2 players that will be put up for blind auction on draft day (before the actual draft). After the bidding is complete you can match the highest offer or let him sign with the highest bidder.
RFAs must be signed for 1, 2 or 3 years.
The remaining RFAs will be dropped into the draft.
You can trade RFAs and/or RFA spots.
Free Agents (FAs)
Players you pick up in waivers during the year are considered FAs.
You can bid on FAs weekly on Thursdays and Saturdays. These happen around midnight so put in your bids by Wednesday and Friday (Blind Auction style).
CBS shows a FAAB (free agent acquisition budget) -- ignore that. You just need to make sure you're within your salary cap if you acquire the player you are bidding on.
If you exceed your salary cap, the player that pushed you over the edge will be dropped back into free agency.
At the end for the season, you have 2 FA spots. This means that you can sign 2 FAs to your team without competition for the price you bid for them during the waiver period.
FAs can only be signed for 1 or 2 years.
The remaining FAs will be dropped into the draft.
You can trade FAs and/or FA spots.
Playoff Format
Playoffs start in week 15 for 3 weeks. We do not play week 18.
Top 6 teams make the playoffs.
The higher seed in all rounds gets a 10 pt home field advantage.
Seeds 1 and 2 have a bye in week 1. Seed 4 plays Seed 5 and Seed 3 plays Seed 6.
In Round 2...Seed 1 plays the lowest seed left and Seed 2 plays the other team.
Losers of the first round games (4 vs 5 and 3 vs 6) compete in a 2-week cumulative score competition for the 5th pick in the draft (loser gets 6th).
Losers of the second round games play each other for 3rd place in week 16 and also for the 7th pick (loser gets 8th--1 week only).
Winner of the Super Bowl gets the 10th pick (loser gets 9th).
The 4 teams that didn't make the playoffs compete in a 3-week cumulative score competition for picks 1 - 4. Most points gets 1st, second most gets 2nd, so on and so forth.
